The elegant black dress she wore in that role is an essential part of that graceful style. Without it, it is hard to imagine Hepburn’s image being so strongly remembered and linked with the greatest styles to ever come out of Hollywood. Of course, a black dress will always do wonders, but this dress goes beyond that simple image to make something truly memorable.

High quality, glamorous long gloves are not only quintessential to completing any vintage, Halloween vixen inspired costumes, these all occasion opera gloves are perfect for any high glamour, formal ensemble. Given her physical assets, she, along with her designer friend Givenchy, created a dress to fit her role in the film of a waif. A well chosen black silk dress with appropriate accessories hit the bull's eye to bring her effervescent personality to the fore; the dark oversized sunglasses completed the ensemble of the little black dress which was called "the definitive LBD". The dress, which outlined her lean shoulder blades, thus became the Hepburn style. The garment was designed by Hubert de Givenchy, and is worn during the opening scene of the film.
None of the actual dresses created by Givenchy were used in either the movie or the promotional photography. The movie poster was designed by artist Robert McGinnis, and in Sam Wasson's book, Fifth Avenue, 5am, he explains that the photos on which he based the poster did not show any leg and that he had added the leg to make the poster more appealing. The actual dresses used in the movie, created by Edith Head, were probably destroyed by Head and Hepburn at Western Costume in California after shooting.

That feat is attributed to designers in the 1920s, most notably, Coco Chanel. In 1926, the Parisian designer had a drawing of a knee-length black dress in crepe de Chine published in American Vogue. The fashion bible declared the little black dress would become a staple for women across social classes. In fact, the dress Hepburn wore is almost as recognizable as Hepburn herself—it has even earned a place in film museums around the world as one of the great objects from movie history.

The dress is cited as one of the most iconic of the 20th century and film history. It has been described as "perhaps the most famous little black dress of all time" and exerting a major influence on fashion itself by directly making it popular. The bodice is slightly open at the back with a neckline that leaves uncovered shoulders. In the film, Audrey Hepburn wears a matching pair of elbow-length gloves the same colour and strings of pearls. We developed this elegant 4 row pearl necklace especially for the mini Audreys in the world who are inspired to be Holly Golightly. The designer of the dress was Paris couturier Hubert de Givenchy, founder of the Givenchy brand. Givenchy and Hepburn had collaborated before and had a great admiration for one another. Their relationship began back in 1953, when Hepburn, who was working on the filmSabrina, floated the idea of consulting with a real French designer. So when Hepburn was cast to star in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, she turned to Givenchy, hoping for another stunning look. Here are my two Breakfast at Tiffany’s Halloween costumes and I sure do feel glamorous! I kept the same earrings as in the first look and found a vintage Chanel bag to further accessorize this look.
It's no wonder the LBD has since become the party dress of choice for generations of women. It was a very deliberate sartorial display, specially conceived with Hepburn's character in mind. The dress suggests Holly has been out the night before, hinting at her "wild" side. Audrey Hepburn's dress was designed by none other than Hubert de Givenchy, who worked on Hepburn's entire wardrobe for the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's."
