Please see appropriate leveled leotard color below. Black leotard or fitted camisole top with fitted nylon/spandex dance shorts, convertible beige tights , beige jazz shoes. Black leotard, any color skirt , pink or mocha tights, pink or skin tone ballet shoes. Combo class attire is acceptable or athletic wear.

Hair pulled back in a ponytail at all times.
A tight, white t-shirt or tank , black sweatpants, black socks, and black ballet shoes are required for boys up to age 12. Thick, black tights and a dance belt are required instead of sweatpants for 13 and older. Athletic attire or leotards are recommended. Soffe shorts, tank tops or short sleeve shirts .
It is best to double check class placement prior to purchasing dancewear. This is a formal dress code usually seen in evening social functions and weddings. During the first week of the month, dancers are allowed to wear whatever they want to class! We ask that students refrain from large costumes that they are unable to move in. Dancers must still wear the correct dance shoes to their class and have their hair secured away from the face.

Leotard, Tights & Shoes can be purchased through NorthStar Dance Center. We carry a high quality, professional dancewear line. Our prices are very competitive with local retailers, if not cheaper! Stop in the office for a fitting during regular class hours. Watch for Special Fitting times to be posted on our home page and Facebook between seasons.
Have a question about our dance programs? We love hearing from current and potential students, and we'll be happy to assist any way we can. Any attire the student can easily move in (no buttons/zippers on pants). The purchase of competition and recital costumes will be be coordinated by your teacher. Rising Star Company – Ages 9-11
BOYS – Attire for Acrobats should be very fitted dance / athletic clothing. For the dancer’s safety, NO BAGGY SHIRTS OR BAGGY PANTS ALLOWED. Bare Feet. GIRLS – Attire for Acrobats should be very fitted dance / athletic clothing. For the dancer’s safety, NO BAGGY SHIRTS OR BAGGY PANTS ALLOWED. Hair must be pulled back. Also appropriate are skirts, leggings, shirts and sweaters. No jewelry is permitted in class; only small stud earrings may be worn.
Pink Tights, plain black OR pink leotard . Chiffon pull on dance skirts in pink or black, optional; pink ballet shoes. Hair secured off the face in ponytail/bun; TAN jazz or BLACK tap shoes, black jazz shorts for jazz. Full length ballet-pink tights, pink ballet shoes, black Mary Jane style tap shoes with elastics in ribbon holes. Long hair must be secured in a bun or ponytail, off the neck, and away from the face. If hair is too short to secure in a bun or ponytail, a headband and/or clips are required.
When you say that a particular place or a function has a dress code, it means that they have a set of rules as to what kind of clothing can be worn there. Hair must be tied back and secured off the dancer’s face for all classes. SHOES – Dancers will be barefoot for Acro / Smooth sole tennis shoes or sneakers for Hip Hop. We highly recommend ballet shoes without drawstrings!
Booty shorts or leggings with a tank top or sports bra are permitted as long as they are high waist and the belly button is covered. Powder blue or pink leotard , pink tights, pink ballet shoes, and black tap shoes. Dancers may also wear booty shorts over their leotards. Booty shorts, ballet skirts, leggings and sports bras are acceptable as long as the shorts/leggings are high waist and cover the belly button.
