Choose Your Ticket
Your trousers should be the same material as your jacket, unless you’ve opted for a velvet jacket. They should have plain hemmed bottoms – no turn-ups – with a single braid down the side. A higher waisted trouser is well-suited to wearing with a waistcoat, but is a more old-fashioned look. Those with contemporary tastes can find lower, slim-leg dinner trousers with stripes down the side in place of the braids. Pleats have largely fallen out of style in favour of flat fronts.

The upper echelons of men’s formal wear include the white tie, morning dress, black tie, and black tie-optional. The white tie is the most formal of all men’s dress code, while the morning dress is the gentleman’s daytime equivalent to the white tie. Another great option when it comes to contemporary black tie variations is the black tie, black shirt and black tuxedo option. Black Tie Attire

What Is Black Tie?
With suits, the jacket, lapel, and trousers are all made of the same material. Black tie optional events are designed to send a judgment-free message that not all men own a black-tie ensemble. However, it’s better to be overdressed than underdressed, so go all out if you can. Ensure that you choose a bow tie that’s proportional to your head, jacket lapels, and shirt collar.
Invited guests genuinely unable to meet the expense of buying or even renting a dinner jacket may wear a dark suit and tie instead. Guests that own or can easily afford a dinner jacket but cannot be bothered to wear one should politely decline the invitation. To do otherwise is boorish as it tells the organizers in no uncertain terms that their preferences are irrelevant. Hosts and organizers do not specify this dress code because they want you showing up in a black suit.
